There are many rules in photoshop, but one of the most important are:

Never work on the source image

Never lie! You will never see a print in RGB color mode(RGB is a web color mode-CMYK is a print color mode.

Tips:TO swap from RGB color mode to CMYK color mode press IMAGE- MODE -(RGB or CMYK)-DON’T FLATTEN and OK

How to create a Workspace

Press : Window-Workspace-New workspace-(name )-save

Window-work space-essentials(default)

To delete the workspace press Window-Workspace-Delete Work space

How to open a file in Photoshop

Press :File-New-(name )-international paper-select the size(A4,A5,A3 etc)-make sure that the mesuarment is in mm and the color mode is RGB and press OK

! If we change the file mesuarments we will have a custom file

How to bring pictures to Photoshop

After you create a file Press:FILE-OPEN (OPEN SOURCE)-SELECT THE IMAGE/S –PRESS OK-CLICK RIGHT ON THE IMAGE TITLE AND SELECT MOVE TO A NEW WINDOW

You can bring the picture into the file by pressing the Move tool( shortcut V)

If you double click on the grey stage you will open automatic your picture folder

You close a picture by useing the shortcut CTRL W.

 

 

 

Select-Inverse-Deselect

The select inverse tool is inversing the selection .To select the inverse tool you need to go on the menu bar press select and choose inverse, or click right on your selection.

The deselect tool( CTRL+D) cancel the selection.

Backgrounds with feather

To create a background in photoshop you just need to add a new layer and to fill with color(shortcut-Shift F5)

If you want to create shadows to your background add a new layer after you create the background, create a square little bit smaller than the background size, click right on your selection, select the FEATHE tool and choose the number of pixels according to the square size, FILL with color and deselect.

The use of stroke

The stroke effect is used to add strokes and borders to layers and shape .It can be used o create solid color lines.

Press editselect stroke select color and pixels for the stroke

Image and Background

Add a image resize the image (ctrl+t)create a new layer fill with color (shift +f5) create a circle or a square feather press delete from the keybord.

If you want to stoke the imge press editstroke select pixelsselect color

 

How to create shadows

If you want to create shadow for a image you need to open a new file –>add a pic–>name the layer(ex.picture 1) –>crop the image useig eliptical marquee tool –>delete from the keybord–>crop any corner that you like in order to create the desired shape –>create a new layer for the shadow effect–>add a name to your layer(ex.shadow for picture one)–>select rectangular marquee tool–>add the rectangular marquee tool on the top of the picture–>fill with colour–>press enter –>add the layer picture1 on top of the shadow for picture one.

How to duplicate circles

OPen a new file–>create you first circles in a layer–>fill with colour–>duplicate the circle by pressing ALT and MOVE TOOL –>as soon as you create your duplicated circles identify them by pressing the eye of the layer(the eye of the layer is hidding the layer when you deselect, or it shows the layer when you select)–>press the squeer of the layer to select the circles that you need to color different –>fill–>select colour–>enter.

Colours -Pattern

The FILL TOOL offers the option to use pattern design for you image .When you need to fill your selections with colours and you don’t want to use the regular ones select the Pattern —>choose a style–>and press entere

Fill–>pattern–>custom pattern–>choose from the pallet –>enter

Colors in Photoshop

The Foreground/Background color squares in the toolbar show you the current color settings. The foreground color shows what color you will “paint” into the background. Click on a color square (foreground/background colors on tool palette). This will activate the Color Picker. Then choose or specify a color.

Elliptical Marquee Tool

This tool is used to select ellipses and circles

To select an elliptical area you should select the elliptical marquee tool from the toolbox by clicking on icon O

To select a rectangular marquee tool click right click on elliptical marquee and select it

You can color the selected areas by pressing right click and selecting the FILL tool

SHIFT can add a new selection to your elliptical marquee

ALT can cut the selection

Rulers in Photoshop

The ruler is a very important tool, helping to position the image precisely.

After activating the rulers (CTRL+ R) you can select by pressing click right on the top of the ruler the mesuarement (pixels,, mm, inches, etc)

If the ruler center point is not correct you can press in the corner of the ruler to adjust it.

Guides/Grid in Photoshop

Guides appear as nonprinting lines that float over the image, also with the use of position the image precisely.

You can move, remove or lock the guides.By locking them you avoid to move the guides by accident

To show the guides tool press VIEW–>SHOW–>GUIDES

To show the grides tool press VIEW–>SHOW–>GRID

PRESS VIEW to remove or to lock them in case of need

You can move the guides in horizontal or vertical positions by draging the lines from the top of the guides.

How to duplicate images

To dulicate images you need to open a new file to add the image that you want to dulicate, to select the move tool(CTRL + T), ALT and to move the image in the way you want to dulicate.Relase the mouse and the ALT button, press CTRL + T take the center point of the image and place it in the corner of the picture, press SHIFT and rotete the picture

CTRL+T–>ALT–>MOVE THE IMAGE–>RELASE THE MOUSE–>RELASE THE ALT BUTTON–>CTRL+T–>PLACE THE CENTER POINT IN THE CORNER OF THE IMAGE–>SHIFT–>ROTATE THE IMAGE

History tool

To show the history tool press WINDOW–>HISTORY

With the history tool you can see any details that you make for you image

I case you are makeing any wrong move you can go back and starting over just by selecting in the history tool the procese that you need to correct.

How to add more pictures into a file

In order to add more pictures you need to open a new file, to open the pictures source, to select them, to press window,arrange,float all in windows,and tile

NEW FILE–>OPEN(select pic.)–>WINDOW–>ARRANGE–>FLOAT ALL IN WINDOWS–>TILE

If you want to rearrange the pictures like a TAB you need to press window,arrange,consolidate all to Tabs

WINDOW–>ARRANGE–>CONSOLIDATE ALL TO TABS

! If you are makeing any mistake while you are trying to move the pictures in the work file you need to press FLOAT ALL IN WINDOWS–>TILE

How to resize pictures

You resize a picture by selecting the free transform(CTRL T)

Don’t forget that is very important to keep the proportions of the picture.If you decide to resize a picture and you don’t want to create a mess after you select the resizing tool ( free transform CTRL T ) hold the SHIFT during the resizeing proces, relase the mouse and then the SHIFT button and press ENTER

HOW TO ZOOM THE PICTURE

CTRL 0 -It will fit on the screen the picture

CTRL + -It will zoom in the picture

CTRL – It will zoom out the picture

How to roll the pictures

Roll and hand tool are 2 similar tools, the only diference between them is that the hand tool can be used only if the picture suffered the zoom in process

To use the hand tool you can press SPACE BAR
